[00:03.02]that we gave Yang Ming a warning,"
[00:04.79]a council member said.
[00:06.40]"Getting enough sleep is important
[00:07.90]for people's health
[00:09.25]and after so many complaints we had
[00:11.21]to take action."
[00:14.39]Study or Sleep?
[00:16.72]A recent newspaper article on drummer
[00:19.29]Yang Ming has caused outrage from teenage fans
[00:22.58]who can't believe that loss of sleep
[00:24.85]is a reason for complaint.
[00:26.49]Not only has the newspaper received calls
[00:29.03]from angry students,
[00:30.56]letters of petition have been sent
[00:32.41]to the local council!
[00:34.29]This has concerned teachers
[00:35.98]and parents alike and has led to a call
[00:38.50]for information on the importance of sleep,
[00:41.19]especially with regard to studying.
[00:43.45]Please help me welcome our participants
[00:46.01]on today's show,Mao Wen,
[00:48.11]a prominent sleep expert, and Li Mei,

[00:52.55]Thank you,it's great to be here today.
[00:55.11]Let me start off by saying
[00:57.15]that sleep is vital to our
[00:58.78]well-being and health.
[01:00.87]Rarely are people getting enough sleep however.
[01:03.22]Research shows that about 40 percent
[01:05.74]of the population regularly feel tired
[01:08.22]during the day!
[01:09.52]Most people need at least 8 hours
[01:11.37]of sleep every night,
[01:12.64]and lack of sleep can seriously
[01:14.33]affect concentration and memory.
[01:16.57]It also causes irritability
[01:18.65]and lowers the immune system.
