看到see the elephant，你會怎么理解？
按字面意思來當然是“看見大象”。但它的實際含義遠不止這么簡單。一起來看看吧↓
 
see the elephant
see the elephant也可說成get a look/ sight at the elephant，意思是“開眼界”、“長見識”。
為什么看到了大象就等于“看到了世界”，就是“見過世面了”？因為在see the elephant這句俚語誕生的年代，只有在非洲和亞洲才能看到大象。對當時的人來說，能看見大象就相當于是見過世面、開了眼界了。就這樣，see the elephant就成了“見見世面”的意思了。

see red

非常生氣；暴怒
see red源于斗牛，公?？吹郊t色就會發(fā)怒。因此，see red意思是“怒不可遏、火冒三丈”。

想一想，除了抬頭望天之外，你還能在什么時候看到星星？
——被撞倒或是被打到眼冒金星的時候。
所以see stars又有“眼冒金星”的意思。
