We start today in Somalia.

今天我們從索馬里開始說(shuō)起。

It`s located in eastern Africa. It`s been very unstable in recent decades, though Somalia`s in the process of building a federal republic. Somalia`s been fighting a terrorist group called al-Shabaab. It wants to turn the nation into a theocracy, a fundamentalist Islamic country. It has murdered dozens of civilians in attacks in east Africa. This week, the U.S. attacked al-Shabaab. It`s done that at least twice in the past year.

索馬里位于非洲東部，在最近幾年里一直很不穩(wěn)定，盡管他們一直處于建立一個(gè)聯(lián)邦共和國(guó)的進(jìn)程當(dāng)中。索馬里一直效力一個(gè)名為青年黨的恐怖組織，這個(gè)組織想要把這個(gè)國(guó)家變成政教合一的伊斯蘭國(guó)家。為此已經(jīng)殺害了非洲東部數(shù)十名平民，本周美國(guó)軍方攻擊了青年黨基地，在過(guò)去的一年里至少發(fā)生過(guò)兩次。

Somali intelligence officials say Monday`s airstrike possibly by an American drone like this hit a convoy of al-Shabaab officials.

索馬里情報(bào)機(jī)構(gòu)官員表示周一的空襲可能由美國(guó)無(wú)人機(jī)發(fā)射并集中了青年黨官員的車隊(duì)。

The U.S. says it was targeting their leader, we don`t know yet if he was killed.

美國(guó)方面稱其集中了青年黨領(lǐng)袖，但不確定是否死亡。

Meanwhile, news broke yesterday that another terrorist group we`ve been reporting on had killed an American journalist. This is the second time in a month that ISIS, Islamic state in Iraq and Syria has brutally murdered a U.S. civilian who was abducted in the Middle East.

同時(shí)，昨天的新聞也報(bào)道稱另一個(gè)恐怖組織殺害了一名美國(guó)記者。這是本月以來(lái)伊斯蘭恐怖組織第二次殘忍殺害在中東遭綁架的美國(guó)公民。

It said it did it in response to U.S. airstrikes against ISIS in Iraq.

據(jù)報(bào)道稱這是對(duì)美國(guó)空襲伊拉克ISIS組織的報(bào)復(fù)。

Just the facts: NATO stands for North Atlantic Treaty Organization. It has 28 member countries and their mostly European, though Canada and the U.S. are also members.

事實(shí)上北約是北大西洋公約的簡(jiǎn)稱，有28個(gè)國(guó)家組成，盡管加拿大和美國(guó)也屬于該組織成員但大部分是歐洲國(guó)家，。

NATO aims to protect these members through diplomacy, and if necessary military action.

北約的目的是通過(guò)外交保護(hù)組織成員，必要時(shí)候采取軍事行動(dòng)。

It operates on the idea of collective defense and attack on one NATO country is an attack on all of them.

如果一個(gè)北約成員國(guó)家對(duì)抗所有其他成員國(guó)的話，北約將會(huì)采取措施進(jìn)行防御和進(jìn)攻。
