第二章名詞與冠詞 專有名詞前冠詞的用法

　　1.除了某些特殊情況，專有名詞前一般不加冠詞:

　　Mr.Brown，Vice-Director Liu，Germany，Paris，Southeast Asia，Ancient Greece，New England，July，Monday，English

　　2.在不少情況下專有名詞前要加定冠詞，如：

　　1)江河海洋的名稱：

　　the Yellow River 黃河

　　the East China Sea 東海

　　the Pacific Ocean 太平洋

　　the Arctic 北冰洋

　　2)山脈群島，海灣海峽的名稱：

　　the Alps 阿爾卑斯山

　　The Rocky Mountains 洛磯山脈

　　the Philippines 菲律賓群島

　　the Taiwan Straits 臺灣海峽

　　the Persian Gulf 波斯灣

　　但單山獨(dú)島名稱前不加冠詞：

　　Mount Emei 峨嵋山

　　Christian Island 圣誕島

　　3)某些國名、組織機(jī)構(gòu)等名稱：

　　the People's Republic of China 中華人民共和國

　　the United Kingdom 聯(lián)合王國

　　the United Nations 聯(lián)合國

　　the Ministry of Education 教育部

　　the State Council 國務(wù)院

　　the State Department 美國國務(wù)院

　　the House of Commons 美國下議院

　　(但：Congress美國國會，Parliament英國國會)

　　4)某些建筑物：

　　the National Gallery 國家美術(shù)館

　　the Military Museum 軍事博物館

　　the Capital Theater 首都劇場

　　the Peace Hotel 和平飯店

　　the Pentagon 五角大樓

　　the White House 白宮

　　5)報(bào)紙、會議、條約等的名稱：

　　the Washington Post 華盛頓郵報(bào)

　　the Daily Mail 每日郵報(bào)

　　The Times泰晤士報(bào)

　　the New York Times 紐約時(shí)報(bào)

　　the Geneva Conference 日內(nèi)瓦會議

　　the North Atlantic Pact 北大西洋公約

　　但有些專有名詞前多不加冠詞，如街名，廣場名

　　Fleet Street 艦隊(duì)街

　　Riverside Avenue 濱河大道

　　大學(xué)名，節(jié)日名，雜志名

　　Times Square 時(shí)代廣場

　　Oxford University 牛津大學(xué)

　　Christmas 圣誕節(jié)

　　May Day 五一節(jié)

　　Time 時(shí)代雜志
