第十四章 介詞 with 的用法

　　1. with:

　　l)和，同，與：

　　I won't argue with you.

　　我不和你爭辯。

　　How are you getting on with him?

　　你和他相處得怎樣?

　　2)對：

　　You must be strict with us.

　　你對我們要嚴(yán)格。

　　she is very patient with the children.

　　她對孩子們非常耐心。

　　3)用，以：

　　All these years he fought with his pen.

　　這些年他都以筆進(jìn)行戰(zhàn)斗。

　　He wanted to kill two birds with one stone.

　　他想一舉兩得。

　　4)表示原因：

　　The poor woman was trembling with fear.

　　那可憐的女人嚇得發(fā)抖。

　　Ther eyes shone with delight.

　　他們的眼睛閃耀著喜悅的亮光。

　　5)有，帶有：

　　These houses were built for workers with families.

　　那些房子是給有家屬的工人蓋的。

　　Who is that young man with glasses?

　　那個(gè)戴眼鏡的青年人是誰?

　　6)(引起短語作狀語) 說明方式：

　　He went home with a heavy heart.

　　他心情沉重地回到家里。

　　Everybody is working with enthusiasm.

　　大家都在熱情地工作。

　　7)(和復(fù)合結(jié)構(gòu)構(gòu)成短語，用作狀語)說明方式，背景：

　　The day was bright, with a fresh breeze blowing.

　　天氣晴朗，吹來陣陣清風(fēng)。

　　He was working there with only a shirt on.

　　他光穿一件襯衣在那里干活。

　　8)就……來說(with 的賓語常可譯成主語):

　　How are things with you?

　　你情況怎樣?

　　Everything was going well with us.

　　我們一切都很順利。

　　9)隨著……：

　　Temperatures vary with the time of the year.

　　隨著時(shí)令不同，氣溫也有變化。

　　Oh, that comes with practice.

　　啊，這是練出來的。

　　還可用于某些成語中。

　　we're all with you on this one.

　　在這件事上我們支持你。

　　he seems a decent lad, and clever with it.

　　他似乎是個(gè)體面的小伙，而且很聰明。
