1) Ellen liked to smell her mother's cooking, when she came home.
   艾倫回到家來(lái)，喜歡聞一聞母親做的菜（一定是肚子餓了）。

2) The scent of roses is wonderful.
   玫瑰的芳香非常棒！
   *scent 是指獸類(lèi)、花、水果、甘草等那特有而淡，但會(huì)逐漸擴(kuò)大的香氣。

3) Her garden was most fragrance in the spring.
   她家的花園到了春天芬芳四溢。
   *fragrance 是指優(yōu)雅而舒適清新的氣味，多指成長(zhǎng)中的植物。

4) The perfume was very delicate.
   那種香氣非常優(yōu)雅。
   *perfume 是指舒適而比較清香的氣味，淡香氛。

5) When the dog needs a bath, he begins to stink.
   當(dāng)那條狗想要入浴的時(shí)候，已經(jīng)開(kāi)始發(fā)臭了。

6) At times, the smell from the gutter can be rank.
   從下水溝時(shí)常冒出刺鼻的氣味。
   *rank 指惡臭強(qiáng)烈，是加在腐敗之物上的形容詞。

7) Some restaurants give out an odor that reaches to the street.
   一些餐廳里面的氣味飄到了街上。
   *odor 是指比 scent 更濃更清楚的味道。

8) The butter has an odor of cheese about it.
   奶油的周?chē)h蕩著干酪的味道。

9) John wakes in the morning to the aroma of coffee.
   約翰在早晨會(huì)因?yàn)榭Х鹊南阄抖褋?lái)。
   *aroma 是一面擴(kuò)大，一面撲鼻，令人聞起來(lái)舒服的氣味。用于指咖啡或香煙的氣味。
