116 awakening from a nightmare

Angry hordes of combatants advancing across the horizon, hovercrafts are at the hub of the action, their mighty engines howling as they move forward in a horizontal array of power, ever trying to stay out of the line of enemy fire, as they hover across the desolate swamps, they periodically sound their horns. Who knows why? Is it to give signals to each other, or is it simply to make that picture of horror all the more realistic? Whatever the reason may be, there is nothing at all humane in what is happening. Those involved in the action are clearly full of hostile intent.

Pockets of hapless enemy soldiers are caught up here and there in the hubbub and excitement, huddling fearfully amid a scene of indescribable horror. There is no hospitable place to hide amongst all the debris and devastation. The setting sun casts an eerie crimson hue over the scene of the battle…

With a start, I awake in total darkness, drenched in cold sweat, I grab for my watch, what’s the time? Three o’clock in the morning. Slowly, it begins to dawn on me: I have been having a nightmare. What I have been dreaming of are scenes from the horror film I was watching the night before.

I find that I cannot get back to sleep and begin to muse on what I have been dreaming. One lesson is clear: once hostilities break out between nations, it is as if humanity is taking leave of its senses.
