A:I was invited to a big party this evening.

我今天晚上受邀參加一個聚會。

B:Sounds great! Who's giving it?

太棒了!誰舉辦的啊?

A:One of the people at work.

我工作的一位同事。

I think there will be mostly people from the company there.

我覺得參加聚會的人多是公司的同事。

B:I'm sure a lot of other people will show up as well.

我覺得應(yīng)該也會有其他的人參加。

A：They said it's "semiformal". What does that mean, exactly?

他們說這次聚會是“半正式的”，這到底是什么意思啊?

B:Well,...semiformal usually means that you aren't supposed to wear jeans or sneakers.

半正式的是指你不應(yīng)該穿牛仔褲或是運(yùn)動鞋。

A:Okay. What about the shirt?

好吧?？梢源┮r衣嗎?

B:You should have a collared shirt, but a tie isn't necessary.

你應(yīng)該穿一件有領(lǐng)子的襯衣，但是沒有必要打領(lǐng)帶了、

A：Right, I think I understand.

好的，我想我懂了。

Anything else I should know before I go?

我還有什么需要注意的嗎?

B:Yes, be sure to bring some sort of gift for the host or hostess.

給主人帶些禮物。

A:Such as?

比如?

B:A bottle of wine or some flowers would be perfect.

一瓶酒或者鮮花是最好了。
