應(yīng)該對(duì)英語(yǔ)語(yǔ)言和文化都很熟悉，為人謙虛，經(jīng)驗(yàn)豐富，很有修養(yǎng)。

6. It takes time and perseverance to achieve that goal.

達(dá)到這一目標(biāo)需要時(shí)間和毅力。

7. Therefore，an interpreter has to know some expertise in the field he/she serves as aninterpreter.

A: Hello, this is Garry Zhao. I am calling to inquire the position of English interpreter.

B: Well, it is still open. Where did you graduate from.

B：嗯，現(xiàn)在還在招聘。你是哪個(gè)學(xué)校畢業(yè)的?

A: I graduated from the Beijing Foreign Studies University. My major is English Translation andInterpretation.

A: 我是北京外國(guó)語(yǔ)大學(xué)畢業(yè)的，專(zhuān)業(yè)是英語(yǔ)翻譯與口譯。

B: It sounds great. I will arrange an interview tomorrow. Can you come tomorrow?

B:聽(tīng)上去不錯(cuò)。我明天給你一個(gè)面試機(jī)會(huì)，你能來(lái)嗎?

A: Yes, I can. Thank you so much.

A:好的，我可以。非常感謝，

A: What characteristics should an interpreter own?

A: 口譯員應(yīng)該具備條怎樣的素質(zhì)?

B: I think he should be an expert of everything.

B: 應(yīng)該是個(gè)雜家，什么都懂。

A: Why is that?

A:為什么?

B: Because English is nothing but a tool which is used when people may negotiate ininternational conferences, probe into physics, release some information in a press conferrence,and do anything we can do with language. Therefore, an interpreter has to know someexpertise in the field he/she serves as an interpreter. Otherwise he/she can not carry outhis/her work smoothly.

B:因?yàn)橛⒄Z(yǔ)只是一個(gè)交流的工具， 人們用它在國(guó)際會(huì)議上談判、 研究物理、在記者招待會(huì)上發(fā)布消息，做一切語(yǔ)言可以做的事情。因此口譯員必須懂得他/ 她所服務(wù)的領(lǐng)域的專(zhuān)業(yè)知識(shí)，否則無(wú)法順利開(kāi)展工作。
