CNN News:利比里亞再現(xiàn)3名埃博拉確診病例

Our first story concerns last year`s outbreak of a deadly Ebola virus in West Africa. It was the largest epidemic in history. The worst hit countries were Guinea, Liberia and Sierra Leone, though it spread across the world after some people who traveled to the region returned home with the virus.

今天的節(jié)目我們首先關(guān)注的是去年西非爆發(fā)埃博拉疫情。這是歷史上規(guī)模最大的流行病。盡管一些人員，前往西非，之后回家后將該種病毒擴(kuò)散到全世界，但是幾內(nèi)亞、利比里亞一直塞拉利昂等國的疫情最為嚴(yán)重。

Since last year, Ebola has more killed more than 11,300 people and it`s not completely contained. Liberian health officials just confirmed three new cases.

自去年起，據(jù)不完全統(tǒng)計(jì)，埃博拉造成11,300多人死亡。利比里亞衛(wèi)生官員剛剛確認(rèn)了3起新病例。

A new report by international health experts suggests the outbreak wouldn`t have been as bad if the World Health Organization had sounded the alarm sooner.

國際健康專家發(fā)表的一篇新報(bào)告稱，如果世界衛(wèi)生自己提前警覺疫情，疫情就不會(huì)如此嚴(yán)重。

The group was part of the United Nations. It aims to monitor and protect people`s health worldwide. It was accused of waiting until last August to declare the outbreak a public health emergency when it allegedly knew Ebola was out of control in the spring.

世界健康組織隸屬于聯(lián)合國。目的是監(jiān)督保護(hù)世界人們健康。據(jù)報(bào)道春天時(shí)，埃博拉已經(jīng)失控，而直到去年八月份世界衛(wèi)生組織才宣布這一公共健康疫情事件。該報(bào)告譴責(zé)了世界衛(wèi)生組織這一拖延行為。

The director of the Harvard Global Health Institute which contributed to the report says the cost of the U.N. organization`s delay was enormous.

哈佛大學(xué)全球健康研究所的負(fù)責(zé)人，發(fā)表了該報(bào)告，稱聯(lián)合國組織對(duì)埃博拉疫情的遲緩，所造成的代價(jià)是巨大的。

The World Health Organization responded by saying it welcomed the report, that some of the report`s recommendations were already being put in place and that the tide has been turned against the outbreak.
