Bastille Day is France’s most important national holiday. It is celebrated on the 14th of July every year. Every city, town and village becomes red, white and blue as everyone hangs out the French tricolour flag. The holiday’s name in French is Fete Nationale, which means “National Celebration“. The 14th of July commemorates the storming of the Bastille on the 14th of July, 1789. The Bastille was a prison that held prisoners who disagreed with the French monarchy. The biggest celebrations are on Paris’ famous Champs-elysees. There are parades, military bands and festivities during the day, and fireworks displays in the evening. It is a wonderful, happy occasion when French people show their pride in their country.
巴士底日是法國(guó)最為重要的節(jié)日。慶祝時(shí)間為每年的7月14日。全國(guó)各大城市，所有村莊小鎮(zhèn)將被紅白藍(lán)淹沒(méi)，人們到處懸掛法國(guó)三色旗。該節(jié)日的法語(yǔ)名稱為Fete Nationale，意思為國(guó)家慶典。1789年的7月14日，法國(guó)群眾攻占巴士底獄。巴士底是一所監(jiān)獄，里面關(guān)押著反對(duì)封建統(tǒng)治的政治犯。最大慶典活動(dòng)會(huì)在香榭麗舍舉行。人們會(huì)舉行游行，軍樂(lè)隊(duì)演奏音樂(lè)以及各種歡慶活動(dòng)，晚上是煙火表演。民族驕傲感油然而生，這是一次激動(dòng)人心的盛會(huì)。


Bastille Day celebrates the most important day in French history. The storming of the Bastille prison marked the beginning of the French Revolution. The prison was a symbol of the total power of King Louis the 16th. Most French people were very poor and hated how the monarchy and its supporters were so wealthy. The Bastille only had seven prisoners when Parisians attacked it, but it signalled Louis 16th’s power was no longer absolute. Parisians believed their actions meant they were free. It led to the creation of the first French republic in 1792 and the three French ideals of liberty, equality, and fraternity. The French national anthem, La Marseillaise, was written that same year and became official in 1795.
人們慶祝法國(guó)歷史上最為重要的一天。攻占巴士底獄吹響了法國(guó)革命的號(hào)角。這所監(jiān)獄是路易十六的王權(quán)象征。當(dāng)時(shí)的法國(guó)民眾窮苦不堪，對(duì)封建統(tǒng)治以及富有的王公大臣恨之入骨。當(dāng)巴黎民眾攻入監(jiān)獄時(shí)，監(jiān)獄只有7名罪犯，但卻預(yù)示著路易十六王權(quán)已不再鞏固。巴黎人民相信，這次行動(dòng)就意味著自由。1792年，法蘭西第一共和國(guó)成立，自由、平等、博愛(ài)理想樹(shù)立。法國(guó)國(guó)歌馬賽曲于同年誕生，并于1795年定為國(guó)歌。
