Amanda: Put a sock in it! You need to shed a fewkilograms as well.
Mike: Well, I've been mulling that dilemma overactually. I read about the latest diet that promisesrapid weight loss in only one week.
Amanda: Sounds like another ridiculous fad to me. I suppose you've got to wrap yourself incellophane and sit in a sauna!
Mike: Very funny. Actually, it had something to do with eating fewer carbohydrates and moreprotein. Apparently that makes your body burn its fat supplies for energy.
Amanda: Hmm. Well, my doctor said that the best way to slim down is to think about yourlong-term health. Most people resort to crash diets, but let themselves go when they'vefinished. The whole point is to change the way you eat permanently.
Mike: I see. So, there's nothing wrong with eating whatever you like, but you should just slowlyphase out the really deplorable stuff, like junk food.
Amanda: Basically that's it. My doctor's mantra is "Eat less, eat well, exercise more."
Mike: You've just got to keep at it then.
Amanda: Yeah. Dieting isn't for quitters.
