Hardly had they pulled out from under the ship's lee, when a fourth keel, coming from the windward side, pulled round under the stern, and showed the five strangers rowing Ahab, who, standing erect in the stern, loudly hailed Starbuck, Stubb, and Flask, to spread themselves widely, so as to cover a large expanse of water. But with all their eyes again riveted upon the swart Fedallah and his crew, the inmates of the other boats obeyed not the command.

他們還剛把小艇從船尾劃出去的時(shí)候，第四只小艇已兜過(guò)船尾從上風(fēng)劃過(guò)來(lái)了，人們頓時(shí)看到那五個(gè)陌生人在為亞哈劃槳，亞哈筆直地站在船尾，大聲跟斯達(dá)巴克。斯塔布和弗拉斯克打招呼，要他們?nèi)恍⊥Ф急M量散開(kāi)，把那一大片海面給包圍起來(lái)。但是，那幾只小艇的人卻沒(méi)有聽(tīng)從命令，大家的眼睛又都盯在那個(gè)黝黑的費(fèi)達(dá)拉和他的水手身上。

"Captain Ahab?-" said Starbuck.

“亞哈船長(zhǎng)？”斯達(dá)巴克說(shuō)。

"Spread yourselves," CRIed Ahab; "give way, all four boats. Thou, Flask, pull out more to leeward!"

“你們都散開(kāi)去，"亞哈嚷道；"用力劃呀，所有四只艇。弗拉斯克，你再劃開(kāi)去，往下風(fēng)劃。”

"Aye, aye, sir," cheerily CRIed little King-Post, sweeping round his great steering oar. "Lay back!" addressing his crew. "There!--there!-- there again! There she blows right ahead, boys!--lay back!

“是，是，先生，”這個(gè)小中柱愉快地嚷道，把他那支大舵槳四下一揮。“往后扳！”他對(duì)他那些水手說(shuō)。“喏！喏1又在噴啦！它就在正前方噴水嘍，伙伴們！往后扳！”

"Never heed yonder yellow boys, Archy."

“別理那些黃家伙，阿基。”

"Oh, I don't mind'em, sir," said Archy; "I knew it all before now. Didn't I hear 'em in the hold? And didn't I tell Cabaco here of it? What say ye, Cabaco? They are stowaways, Mr. Flask."

“啊，我才不來(lái)理他們呢，先生，”阿基說(shuō)；“我早就知道啦。我不是聽(tīng)到他們?cè)谂摾锩矗课也皇歉ò涂普f(shuō)過(guò)了嗎？你們是怎么說(shuō)的，卡巴科？他們都是黃魚(yú)呀，弗拉斯克先生。”

"Pull, pull, my fine hearts-alive; pull, my children; pull, my little ones," drawlingly and soothingly sighed Stubb to his crew, some of whom still showed signs of uneasiness.

“劃呀，劃呀，勇敢的伙伴們呀；劃呀，我的孩子；劃呀，我的小寶貝，”斯塔布慢聲慢氣而又撫慰似地對(duì)他的水手們哼著，其中有些人還是顯得神色不安。

"Why don't you break your backbones, my boys? What is it you stare at? Those chaps in yonder boat? Tut! They are only five more hands come to help us never mind from where the more the merrier. Pull, then, do pull; never mind the brimstone devils are good fellows enough. So, so; there you are now; that's the stroke for a thousand pounds; that's the stroke to sweep the stakes!

“你們?yōu)槭裁床患影褎叛剑业幕锇?？你們?cè)谇菩┦裁囱?？看那邊艇里那些家伙么？噓！我們不是又多了五個(gè)幫手么？不管是打哪兒來(lái)的，幫手越多越好。劃呀，那么，請(qǐng)劃呀；別理那些硫黃色的東西，魔鬼也是好伙伴呀。唔，唔；這就行嘍；這一記可值一千鎊；這才是通吃的一記！
