Differences Between Plants and Animals

動植物間的差異

There are several characteristics which distinguishplants from animals.

有許多特征可將植物和動物區(qū)分開來。

Generally speaking, plants are able to manufacturetheir own food,

一般來說，植物可以自己生成它們的食物。

by using substances in the environment throughthe process

它們可以用環(huán)境中的物質(zhì)來實現(xiàn)這一點(diǎn)，

which is known as photosynthesis.

這就是光合作用。

They can grow very well if they have enough sunshine, rainfall and fertilizer.

它們便能茁壯成長，如果有充足的陽光，雨水和肥料。

In contrast,all animals,including man,

相比之下，動物，包括人在內(nèi)，

get their food either directly from the plants

要么直接從植物那里獲取植物，

or indirectly by eating animals which feed on plants or other animals.

Animals,therefore, need a wider range of food than plants.

因此，動物比植物更需要更廣泛的食物。

Plants are stationary.They do not have the power to move.

植物是靜止的，它們沒有移動能力，而動物卻可以四處移動。

Animals,on the other hand,can usually move about.

而動物卻可以四處移動。

Consequently,plants appear to be less sensitive than animals

因此，它們沒有動物那么敏感，

although they respond in some ways to light, heat, physical contact and other stimuli.

雖然植物也以某種方式對光，熱，接觸及其他刺激作出反應(yīng)。

Plants are usually green.

植物一般為綠色。

Animals,however,are very diverse in external appearance.

而動物的外表色澤則五花八門。

They may appear in any color you can think of.

它們可以是你能想象的任何顏色。
