other, others與another的用法與區(qū)別

　　1. 指單數

　　若泛指用another，若特指用 the other。如：

　　Could he get another job? 他能找到另一份工作嗎?

　　This bag is slightly heavier than the other one. 這個包比那個包稍重一點。

　　2. 指復數

　　若泛指用 other(后接復數名詞)，若特指用the other(后接復數名詞)。如：

　　Other problems also had to be faced. 還需面對其他問題。

　　He runs faster than all the other boys. 他跑得比其他男孩子都快。

　　3. others的用法

　　永遠表示復數意義(且其后不能再接名詞)。其用法大致相當于“other+復數名詞”，同樣地 the others 大致相當于“the other+復數名詞”。如：

　　He feels it his duty to help others. 他認為幫助別人是他的責任。

　　I came three hours earlier than the others. 我比其他人早來3小時。

　　4. another的用法

　　一般只能表單數，且其后接名詞也只能接單數名詞。但是若其后有數詞或 few 修飾時，則也可接復數名詞。如：

　　I’m staying for another few weeks. 我還要再呆幾個星期。

　　We need another five chairs. 我們還需要五把椅子。

　　5. 與some 對比

　　與some 對比使用時，用 others(此時與 some 同義)。如：

　　Some people enjoy exercise, others don’t. 一些人喜歡運動，而另一些人則不喜歡。

　　6. 有關習語

　　every other 每隔一……，其他的……都

　　none other than 不是別的，正是……

　　no other than 不是別的，正是……

　　one after the other 一個接一個地，相繼

　　one from the other 分別，各別

　　some . . . or other 某一個
