The most important thing is that you have a vision. that you have a goal. Because without that vision, without the goal, again, you drifting around. you're not gonna end up anywhere.

最重要的是你要有遠見卓識,有一個目標,因為沒有目標只會讓你原地打轉(zhuǎn),你哪兒都去不了。

People don't become successful just by accident. You know I mean maybe the guy did find the gold in California, and started the gold rush, but don't count. That's the one in the lifetime kind of situation.

人們并不是偶然成功的。你知道我的意思是也許他在加州找到了黃金,開始了淘金熱,但不算數(shù)。這是一生中的一種情況。

So you have to really have a specific goal and to me to have the vision that I want to be Mr. universe.

所以你必須有一個明確的目標,對我來說,要有我想成為宇宙先生的愿景。

I want to be the greatest bodybuilder of all time. That was a great vision ,and that specifically looked like reg park, be able to on that stage, to lift the trophy overhead, and to win the championship over and over again.

我想成為有史以來最偉大的健美運動員。這是一個偉大的愿景,特別是看起來像 reg park,能夠在那個舞臺上,把獎杯舉過頭頂,并贏得一次又一次的冠軍。

So that was a great goal. You have to have a goal like this. And It doesn't have to be that specific goal, but you have to have some goal.

This is why I always recommend to people sit down, take your time. And start thinking about why do you want to work out? What is you goal? And keep it as crazy as it is. It could be you know I want to impress girls.

If that`s your goal, so be it, but it motivates you. It could be emulating certain body bulider, or certain football player, certain box. Whatever it is, have those pictures put all over the wall like i did it when i was a kid.

如果這是你的目標,那就做吧,但它會激勵你?;蛘吣愕哪繕丝梢在s上那些健美運動員,足球,拳擊運動員,不管那些是什么,把他們的海報貼在墻上,我小時候就是這么做來激勵自己的。

I put pictures of Reg park of Ali of power lifters of weight lifters, in all of the bedrooms in a wall. So everyday when i go to sleep everyday when I wake up when I look at those pictures it motivated me.

我在我是的墻上貼滿偶像的海報,所以每天醒來的時候,睡覺的時候,我看看那些海報,他們給我動力。

You need that motivation and therefore you have this kinda of imprint in front of you all the time and you know exactly what you are chasing. This is why I always smiled when I was in the gym. People always come up to me and ask why you are always smiling you are working out 4-5 hours a day. You are doing the same as other guys, but other guys have a soured face and pissed off that they have to do another rep or another set.

你需要這樣的動力,這樣的持久的激勵擺在你面前,你知道你在追求什么。這也就是我為社么帶著微笑訓(xùn)練,人么總是問我,為什么總是笑著訓(xùn)練?你可是每天要練4-5個小時啊。別人像你這樣,都是哭喪著臉,聽到要多做的時候就像欠人錢一樣,一臉不快。

I looked forward to , I looked forward to another thousand of situps. I looked forward to another 500 pounds of leg press or squat. I looked forward to more and more curls until my arms fall off.

但是我不一樣,我要做那一組,我知道我需要更多的卷腹,我需要更多的壓腿和深蹲,我需要更多的卷臂直到我的胳膊力竭為止。

Why? Because I knew that every rep that I did and every set I did and more weights I lifted. I get 1 step closer to turning that vision into reality. So I was trapped on that I was excited, I could`t wait to get to the gym.

為什么?因為我直到我做的每一組,每多一些重量,都會讓我向目標更進一步,我沉溺其中,并且樂在其中,我每天迫不及待的去健身房訓(xùn)練。

And one of the things you know create the urgency, it can go you know one way or another. Because like I remember that when I was 245lbs. Bob Rafelson, the director of stay hungry said to me that I am interested in having you come for reading and working on acting. Because I want to have you in the movie to start with Jeff Bridges and Sally Field.

給自己制造緊迫感,我記得我當時245磅體重的時候,導(dǎo)演Bob找到我,告訴我說我想讓你過來演電影,和Jeff Bridges還有Sally一起。

I was delighted about that I was excited and so that I started pumping more and then he said but I don`t want you to weight more than 210lbs. So I said that, wow, it`s funny that you come to me. He wanted me to be in the movie but I am weighing 245-246lbs. I just want the olympia in 1974, and I was really at my biggest.

我特別興奮特別激動,我開始練的更多,但是導(dǎo)演說,我需要你拍戲前把體重降到210磅。我當時說,那你為什么要找我呢,你明知道我體重有245磅,體重不達標,當時是1974年,我一心相當健美冠軍。

But he demanded that and he says: look it`s very simple. At the day we start shooting. He says I am gonna to put you on the scale and if you don`t make the 210, you are out. Because I have someone else in mind.

導(dǎo)演也沒說廢話,把話撂下,聽著,很簡單,你如果想演,開拍的那一天,把你放在稱上,如果你比210磅重,你就滾蛋。我的找別人來演戲。

And I worked on that , visualizing myself very clearly as a lean athlete. Because that was the only way that I could lose the weight and of course that I can get interested in running more. Because up to the point when I was running 3 miles after training or before training or whatever.

我沒有辦法,只能朝210努力,我把自己想象成一個極為精壯的運動員。因為那是我唯一能下決心減重的辦法了。讓自己跑更多的步,之前我都頂多在訓(xùn)練前或者訓(xùn)練后跑個3英里。

But now it was like 5. 6. 7 . 8 mils, and there I even ran mini marathons.in order to lose weight I did everything behind my reps, I was watching my diet or that eat notice kind of things. But the day , the day before I remember we went to Birmingham Alabama with Bob Rafelson, he was swimming I was working out, I was running, I was attracted, he says let`s step on the scale.

但是現(xiàn)在,5.6.7.8英里還不夠,我還跑了很多小型馬拉松,為了減重,我在訓(xùn)練之外做了很多。我嚴格執(zhí)行飲食計劃,營養(yǎng)方案。我記得最后開拍前,那天我們?nèi)irmingham見到Bob,他在游泳,我在鍛煉,他說,上稱。

And I stepped on the scale, and I weighed 209. so it just shows you that what is possible, if you visualize exactly what you want to look like, it can go one way which is that , lose weight get trimmed, get slimmed and the abs or you go the other way。

我站上去,209磅,我做到了。所以舉這個例子只是想說明,如果你把眼光放在別人你想成為的人身上,放在你的目標上,不管你是要減重,要腹肌,還是要增肌,要變強壯,或者是其他任何事情。

You gain weight as the winner of Olympia or something like that . so it can go either way , but in each case, it was like certain time limits were set and I have to perform and there is no room for any kind of like .

不管是什么事情,哪個方向,給自己一個期限,然后嚴格的去執(zhí)行,這里沒有偷懶的空間和余地。

I can`t get macked, because there is only certain amount of time. But the key thing is to have the clear vision, have the specific goal of what you want to accomplish, because then you never go to the gym but to say the day, I feel down a little bit, I didn`t know what this is all about .

我不能搞砸,因為時間有限,關(guān)鍵就在于,必須要把眼光放在那里,有那么一個清晰的目標,你想要取得什么成就,做到什么。這樣你永遠不會說,啊,我今天感覺有點難受,我不知道這一切是為了什么。

I don`t know my life, I am confused , no , I tell you that I was the perfect example of someone that was not confident at all . I mean when I was a kid, I was just like the any other kids. I have hanging ups and problems and all these.

我不知道人生的意義,我好迷茫,不!我想說我就是最好的例子,一個沒有自信的人的例子。我小時候和其他孩子一樣,我也掛科,闖禍。

But when I joined weight lifting club, and I won the first little trophy, because I did the best clean chirk, then I went to another meet and I won another little trophy.

但是當我第一次加入舉重俱樂部,我第一次贏得哪個小獎杯,因為我干凈的線條,然后我繼續(xù)參加,繼續(xù)贏獎杯。

I started feeling like, somebody so , of course not everyone is gonna to have this kind of situation , but the bottom line is , everyone can use the same method, because I used it , in power lifts, making money, everything that I have , like in the movie business.

我開始感覺自己不一樣了,當然不可能所有人都和我有一樣的境遇。但是每個人都可以用這個辦法,我?guī)缀踉谒蟹矫娑加蒙线@個,健身,賺錢,電影,所有的一切。

When you have one little victory, little victories, add up and that will give you the ultimate confidence, well, for me the most important thing is always to have a deadline , for instance, had a competition and let`s say that the competition was in the mid September and it was now the beginning of summer, so there was no more time to screw around.

當你哪怕只有一個小的成功,這些小的成功,積累起來,這些都會給你份自信。對我來說,最重要的事情就是一定要給自己設(shè)置一個底線。比如,我9月要去比賽,現(xiàn)在是夏天開始,已經(jīng)沒時間讓我拖延了。

So there was the time for going on a diet, going to the training to not slack off at all, there was a deadline , the day I have the competition , I have to be in the best shape possible.

現(xiàn)在我需要立即開始控制飲食,加強訓(xùn)練,不偷懶。因為比賽日期就在哪里,我必須要以最好的狀態(tài)參賽。

I knew that if I come to the competition and I lose because I didn`t schedule my training the proper way, or I didn`t have the right frame of mind or I didn`t give my everything, literally work my butt off.

我也知道,如果我輸了比賽的原因是因為我沒有安排訓(xùn)練,我思想上懈怠,沒有全力以赴去訓(xùn)練到自己的極限。

I would be just so angry, so I never wanted to be in that situation so this is why it was very important to pick that time say this is when I have to be in top shape and work towards that.

我會對自己非常生氣,所以永遠也不想讓這樣的事情發(fā)生。這就是我為什么給自己一個期限特別重要。給自己一個期限,然后全力以赴。

But it`s just with the competition I mean it`s all the same in the movie business to me it was always a big advantage when I say ok, my movie starts at April 1 ,and I have now 3 months I have to get in really great shape so you pick those times, you could also be that there is no movie, and there is no Mr Olympia no Mr Universe coming up or you don`t have those thing, but you say to yourself, the summer starts in June.

但是這個不僅僅只適用于比賽,我在拍電影的時候也一樣,電影的開始時間對我來說是一個天然的優(yōu)勢,比如電影4月1日開拍,所以我現(xiàn)在還有3個月的時間去達到要求,所以一定要給自己設(shè)定一些期限,哪怕可能不拍電影,不參加比賽,沒有那些外界的期限催著你,你自己要給自己設(shè)定,你告訴自己,6月夏天要來了。

I am going beach in June and by that time I am going to be in great shapes, and that create the urgency that makes you to really start to training hard and take it seriously, because if you don`t have specific paln, then you wonder around and you can have as if I told you many times , the best plan and the best shape in the world.

我要去沙灘,那時候我希望有一個好的身材,這讓你有了緊迫感,讓你開始努力訓(xùn)練,認真對待,因為你如果沒有一個具體的計劃,只有在那里漫無目的的瞎逛,或者你可以給自己這樣一個計劃,比如我想要全世界最好的身材。

But if you don`t have the specific goal of where you want to go , when you want to get there, you just drift around and you never get to anywhere.

但是你如果沒有一個特別具體的目標,你什么時候想要達成哪個目標,你只會原地打轉(zhuǎn),哪兒也去不了。

So this is why it`s so important to create that urgency and specific time when to be in shape. Well look, everyone has a problem with time, but the day is 24 hours, and we sleep 6, ok I know there are some out there and say, wow wow wow I need eight, well I say, just sleep a little faster, because the bottom line is that we have 6 hours of sleep, 24 hours available so now 18 hours available, do your work , your family, your hobbies, and also to learn something new, or to do something new.

所以這就是為什么通過設(shè)定期限,給自己一定的緊迫感十分重要,我知道,每個人都遇到時間管理的問題,一天只有24小時,我們睡6小時,我知道肯定有人說,我要睡8小時,我只想說,那也行,快點入睡,這樣,6小時睡眠,一天24小時你就有18小時醒著,去工作,照顧家庭,學(xué)習(xí)新東西,做新東西。

Which could easily be that you want to learn a new language, oh, as the new year resolution that you want to read a book every week, or you say I am gonna go to reshape my body , so you`re gonna go to take these hours out of your schedule, and say I am gonna to train a hour everyday.

比如你想去學(xué)一門新的語言,實現(xiàn)新一年許下的一周讀一本書的愿望?;蛘吣阆聸Q心改變你的身材,所以你每天拿出那1個小時,告訴自己我每天要訓(xùn)練一小時,

So this is for most people a huge challenge ,but it`s totally doable and I can tell them. Because the kind of things that I did, when I came to this country, I mean I went to the school almost working in construction, I was working out my 5 hours a day.

這對大多數(shù)人來說都是一個很大的挑戰(zhàn),但是我敢保證對大多數(shù)人來說這絕對是可行的,因為我當時做的事情,當我剛來到這個國安的時候,我需要去一個在建設(shè)中的學(xué)校上學(xué),我每天要訓(xùn)練5個小時。

I was taking action classes from 8 o`clock at night to 12 at midnight, I was doing all of those things , I wanted to make sure that the 24 hours of the day, that I don`t waste 1 single hour.

晚上8點到12點還要上表演課,我什么都在做,什么都要學(xué),我希望我不要浪費僅有的24小時中的每一分一秒。

Because those hours were too precious, so I just want to tell people, don`t give me the things I had a difficult time . I don`t have time for this and other and that, you have time , you make the time.

時間對我來說太寶貴了。所以我只想說,遇到困難不要給自己找借口,我沒時間做這做那,你有時間,你能擠出時間來。
