熱血、辛勞、汗水和眼淚
I say to the House as I said to Ministers who have joined this government, I have nothing to offer but blood, toil, sweat and tears. We have before us an ordeal of the most grievous kind. We have before us many, many months of struggle and suffering.
我已告知參加新政府的各位大臣，在此我再敬告諸位議 員：除了熱血、辛勞、汗水和眼淚，我沒有其他可以奉獻(xiàn)。我們 面臨著極其嚴(yán)峻的考驗(yàn);我們面臨著漫長而艱苦卓絕的斗爭(zhēng)。
You ask, what is our policy? I say it is to wage war by land, sea and air. War with all our might and with all the strength God has given us, and to wage war against a monstrous tyranny never surpassed in the dark and lamentable-catalogue of human crime. That is our policy.
你們會(huì)問，我們的政策是什么?我的回答是：在陸地上、在海上、在空中作戰(zhàn)。我們要不遺余力，憑籍上帝賜予我們的全 部力量，同人類歷史上空前黑暗、空前暴虐的專制制度作殊死 搏斗。這就是我們的政策。
You ask, what is our aim? I can answer in one word. It is victory. Victory at all costs — victory in spite of all terrors — victory, however long and hard the road may be, for without victory there is no survival.
你們會(huì)問，我們的目標(biāo)是什么?我可以用一個(gè)詞作答，那 就是：勝利。不惜一切代價(jià),甘冒一切危險(xiǎn)去奪取勝利。不論前面的道路多么漫長，多么崎嶇，一定要奪取勝利!因?yàn)椴猾@得勝 利就得滅亡。
Let that be realized. No survival for the British Empire, no survival for all that the British Empire has stood for, no survival for the urge，the impulse- of the ages, that mankind shall move forward toward his goal.
我們每一個(gè)人都必須認(rèn)識(shí)到：沒有勝利，大英帝國將不復(fù) 存在，大英帝國倡導(dǎo)的一切將不復(fù)存在，推動(dòng)人類歷史朝既定 目標(biāo)前進(jìn)的動(dòng)力將不復(fù)存在。
I take up my task in buoyancy and hope. I feel sure that our cause will not be suffered to fail among men.
我滿懷希望欣然承擔(dān)我的使命。我確信人民不會(huì)容忍我們的事業(yè)遭遇失敗。
I feel entitled at this juncture，at this time, to claim the aid of all and to say, “Come then, let us go forward together with our united strength."
此時(shí)此刻，我認(rèn)為我有權(quán)要求得到所有人的支持,我要說: “來吧!讓我們同心協(xié)力，奮勇向前吧。”
