The past year was not an ordinary year for China’s entertainment industry. Some big celebrities were caught in scandals while young potentials rose to fame. Some tied the knot while others broke apart.

In China’s entertainment circle, you never know who will be the next hot thing. But one thing is for sure, celebrities who boast huge social influence should set a good example and convey positive social values to the general public.

1. Martial arts novelist Louis Cha dies

Louis Cha Leung-yung, one of the most influential Chinese novelists, and better known under the pen name Jin Yong, died on Oct 30, in Hong Kong Sanatorium.

查良鏞是中國最具影響力的小說家之一，筆名金庸，他于10月30日在香港療養(yǎng)院去世。

His novels have been adapted in films, TV and radio series, and deeply influenced the cultural development of Chinese-speaking communities around the world.

他的小說被改編成電影、電視劇和廣播等，深刻影響了世界各地華人社區(qū)的文化發(fā)展。

2. Actress Fan Bingbing fined for tax evasion

Chinese A-list actress Fan Bingbing was fined 883 million yuan ($128 million) for tax evasion, highlighting a nationwide drive to regulate tax payments in the film and television sector.

中國一線女星范冰冰因逃稅被處以8.83億元人民幣(約合1.28億美元)的罰款，凸顯出全國范圍內(nèi)對電影電視行業(yè)納稅行為的監(jiān)管力度。

China’s tax authorities reminded filmmakers, television production companies and related sectors, as well as those in high-income brackets, to look closely into their own taxpaying practices before Dec 31.

中國稅務機關(guān)提醒電影制片人、電視制作公司和相關(guān)行業(yè)，以及高收入人群，在12月31日前，要密切關(guān)注自己的納稅行為。

According to Xinhua News Agency, those who make remedial payments to tax authorities for unpaid taxes will be exempt from administrative punishment and penalties.

據(jù)新華社報道，向稅務機關(guān)補繳稅款的，將免除行政處罰。

4. Former CCTV anchorman Li Yong dies at 50

Former CCTV anchorman Li Yong died on Oct 25 at age 50 after 17 months of battle against cancer.

在與癌癥作斗爭17個月后，CCTV前主持人李詠于10月25日去世，享年50歲。

Li was most known for his witty comments and easy-going style while he hosted hit reality game and talent shows, and his death brought a wave of nostalgia among netizens.

李詠最為人熟知的是他在熱門的真人秀和才藝秀中詼諧的評論和親民的主持風格。他的去世引起了網(wǎng)友一大波懷舊情懷。

5. Zhao Liying ties the knot with FengShaofeng

Chinese actress Zhao Liying and actor Feng Shaofeng announced their marriage on Oct 16 by posting their marriage certificates at the same time on the Weibo platform.

The announcement caused a short breakdown on the social platform with millions likes and comments within hours.
