75　as well as和as good as

① as well as表示“等于，一樣好”（equally with，no less than）。

He has understanding as well as you. 他的理解力和你的一樣好。

② as well as相當(dāng)于both…and，not only…but also，表示“既……又，除……之外（還）”。as well as同not only…but also換用時(shí)，要注意其側(cè)重點(diǎn)不同。as well as側(cè)重前項(xiàng)，而not only…but also側(cè)重后項(xiàng)。所以，如果把a(bǔ)s well as換為not only…but also，就應(yīng)將這兩個(gè)連詞短語(yǔ)連接的名詞互換位置。

It is a political as well as an economic question. 這不僅是一個(gè)經(jīng)濟(jì)問(wèn)題，更是一個(gè)政治問(wèn)題。

She did a little research as well as made a lot of experiments. 她不僅做很多試驗(yàn)，還做一些研究工作。

③ as well as…not前后都否定，not as well as則否定前者，肯定后者。

John，as well as Mary，has not yet read the book. 約翰和瑪麗一樣，都沒(méi)有讀過(guò)那本書。

John has not yet read the book as well as Mary. 約翰還沒(méi)有讀過(guò)那本書，但瑪麗已讀過(guò)。

比較

He，as well as you，will not go. 你將不去，他也將不去。（兩者均否定）

He will not go as well as you. 你將去，但他將不去。（否定前者，肯定后者）

You helped her，as well as I. 不但我?guī)椭怂阋矌椭怂?/p>

You helped her as well as me. 你不但幫助了我，也幫助了她。

④ as well as替代better than，意為“與其……不如……”。

⑤ as well as可用作復(fù)合介詞，表示“除了……之外還……”，相當(dāng)于besides，可接名詞或動(dòng)名詞。

I have a few English dictionaries as well as this. 除了這本外，我還有幾本英語(yǔ)詞典。

As well as teaching she did some social work. 除了教書外，她還做一些社會(huì)工作。

⑥ as well as連接兩個(gè)不定式時(shí)，第一個(gè)不定式帶to，第二個(gè)不定式不帶to。

We cannot expect her to do the housework as well as look after the children. 我們不能指望她又照看孩子，又做家務(wù)。

⑦ as well as可以連接兩個(gè)介詞短語(yǔ)。

It is important for you as well as for me. 這件事不僅對(duì)我重要，而且對(duì)你也重要。

⑧ as good as意為①“等于，同樣”（amounting to，not falling short of）；②“實(shí)際上，其實(shí)”（actually，in fact，virtually）。

He is as good as his promise/word. 他言出必行。

He as good as promised her that he would take her along. 他實(shí)際上等于答應(yīng)了帶她去。

Everything was as good as settled. 一切準(zhǔn)備工作幾乎已經(jīng)做好了。

She as good as said so. 她事實(shí)上是這么說(shuō)了。
