76　ashamed，shameful和shameless

① ashamed意為“感到羞恥，覺得慚愧”，主語是人，表示主語主觀認(rèn)為是可恥的。比較不同的含義：

be ashamed of doing sth.

be ashamed of oneself for doing sth. 做了某事而感到羞愧

I'm ashamed of him. 我為他感到可恥。

Now don't you be ashamed of being poor. 不要因貧窮而感到羞恥。

I'm ashamed of myself for having stayed so long. 我待了這么久，真是不好意思。

I'm quite ashamed to have to trouble you. 不得不打擾你，我感到非常慚愧。

I'm ashamed to leave you this way. 就這樣離開你，我感到慚愧。

He is now ashamed from his conduct.

He is now ashamed of his conduct.

他現(xiàn)在對自己的行為感到羞恥。

② shameful表示“可恥的，丟臉的”，可作表語或定語，表示事物本身是“可恥的”，指事物，不指人。

It is a shameful act. 那是一種可恥的行為。

We thought his behaviour was shameful. 我們認(rèn)為他的行為是可恥的。

③ shameless表示“厚顏無恥的，無恥的”，可作定語或表語，可指人或物。

a shameless person一個無恥之徒

shameless disloyalty無恥的背叛
