420　just，justly，just now，presently和at present

① just可以表示兩種含義。

（1）“剛才，剛剛”，在英式英語中常同完成時(shí)連用，在美式英語中則常同過去時(shí)連用。

The train has just arrived. 火車剛剛到站。

He had just gone to bed when the telephone rang. 電話鈴響時(shí)，他剛睡下。

I just had a phone call from Mr. Brown. 我剛剛接到布朗先生的電話。

（2）“正好，恰好”，相當(dāng)于exactly，可修飾多種句子成分，如形容詞、副詞、從句等，放在被修飾的成分前。

The money is just enough. 錢剛好夠。

That is just what he said. 那正是他說的話。

He is just in need of help. 他正需要幫助。

② justly意為“公平地，公正地；合法地，應(yīng)得地；有正當(dāng)理由地”。

He was justly punished for his crimes. 他犯了罪，受到了應(yīng)有的懲罰。

We're justly proud of it. 我們有正當(dāng)理由為之驕傲。

③ just now意為“剛才”，用于一般過去時(shí)，相當(dāng)于a little while ago。 just now也可表示“此刻，就在現(xiàn)在”，相當(dāng)于at the moment，在這種意義上可用于一般現(xiàn)在時(shí)或現(xiàn)在進(jìn)行時(shí)，可以看作是just修飾now，表示強(qiáng)調(diào)。

I saw her just now. 我剛才看見她了。

He is busy just now. 他此刻正忙著。

We are having a meeting just now. 我們正在開會(huì)呢。

提示

just now 還可以表示“馬上”，用于將來時(shí)。

He won't come to see you just now. 他不會(huì)馬上來看你。

④ presently表示“立刻，馬上”，相當(dāng)于soon，同一般將來時(shí)連用。

The guest will arrive presently. 客人馬上就會(huì)到。

在美式英語中，presently表示“目前”，相當(dāng)于now，與一般現(xiàn)在時(shí)或現(xiàn)在進(jìn)行時(shí)連用。

His uncle is presently in London. 他叔叔眼下在倫敦。

He is presently writing a book. 他現(xiàn)在正在寫一本書。

⑤ at present表示“目前”，相當(dāng)于currently或presently，與一般現(xiàn)在時(shí)或現(xiàn)在進(jìn)行時(shí)連用。

He is at present in Shanghai. 他目前在上海。

Nothing is wanted at present. 現(xiàn)在什么都不缺。
