① worthy是形容詞,除作表語外,還可用作定語,意為“值得的,有價值的,值得尊敬的”,但不用于表示“錢”,而是表示某物或某事值得做,或者適合做某事,其結(jié)構(gòu)為:
be worthy of+名詞/代詞
be worthy of+動名詞被動式
be worthy+不定式。
The town is worthy of a visit/to be visited. 那座小城值得去看一看。
The job is not worthy of her. 這項工作配不上她。(這項工作太簡單,而她則是個很有本領(lǐng)才華的人。)
She is not worthy to be my teacher. 她不配當(dāng)我的老師。

② worth while意為“值得”,worth為形容詞,while為名詞,worth while可以單獨作表語。在It is worth while…句型中,worth while后可接動名詞或不定式。
Buying the book is worth while. 買下那本書是值得的。
It is not worth while our doing. 這不值得我們費力去做。
It is worth while making the decision.
做出這項決定是值得的。
③ worthwhile是一個詞,為形容詞,意為“有價值的,合算的,值得做的”,可用作表語或定語。
That is a worthwhile book. 那是一本很有價值的書。
Selling eggs at this price is not worthwhile. 雞蛋賣這個價錢不合算。
④ worth sb.'s while意為“值得(費事),有好處”。
It is not worth your while arguing with such a mean man. 同這樣一個卑劣的人爭辯不值得。
Perhaps it wouldn't be worth your while to go there. 也許你去那里沒有什么用處。
