There is a lot of regional stereotypes and lables in the US when it comes to characterizing each state: 說(shuō)到不同的州，美國(guó)也有很多地域偏見(jiàn)、標(biāo)簽

There are 50 states in the United States of America: 美國(guó)一共有50個(gè)州

Alaska and Hawaii were the last two states to join the union: 阿拉斯加和夏威夷是最晚進(jìn)入的州

The lower 48 states exclude Alaska and Hawaii since they're not connected to the rest of America: 美國(guó)人常叫其它的48個(gè)州“The lower 48 states", 指的就是除去阿拉斯加和夏威夷

Some of the bigger states include New York, Pennsylvannia, Maine, Massachusetts: 比較大的州包括紐約、賓夕法尼亞州、緬因州、馬薩諸塞州

Philadelphia is Pennsylvannia's biggest city: 費(fèi)城是賓夕法尼亞州最大的城市

Maine is known for their lobsters: 緬因州最出名的就是龍蝦

They played a huge role in America's founding history as some of the first few colonies: 這些州都是美國(guó)歷史中最早的幾個(gè)殖民州

Southern states tend to be very religious: 南方人很多都非常虔誠(chéng)

Conservative: 保守

There's a lot of dichotomy in the South: 南方也很矛盾

They're God-fearing, but a lot of them support gun ownership and capital punishment: 雖然他們愛(ài)上帝、不是應(yīng)該愛(ài)和平嗎?但很多人都有槍、支持死刑

People from more liberal states such as California and New York make fun of southern states and imply that they're stupid: 比較激進(jìn)自由的州，比如加州、紐約人?？床黄鹉戏饺?，覺(jué)得他們傻

They've been the butt of many jokes for a long time: 南方人在美國(guó)一直被開(kāi)玩笑

No one knows what they are because there's not much out there: 他們不太出名，因?yàn)闆](méi)有什么特色

Illinois is known for Chicago and fields of corn: 伊利諾伊州最有名的是芝加哥、還有玉米地

Arkansas is known for Walmart: 阿肯色州最有名的是沃爾瑪

The "s" at the end of Arkansas is not pronounced: 注意發(fā)音，Arkansas是"Arkansal"

These states are also called "flyover states" since most people just fly over them: 美國(guó)人把這些州叫“flyover states", 就是飛機(jī)飛過(guò)去就夠了，不用專門(mén)停留

Texas is a really big state, and Texans like to think they should be a separate country: 德州非常大，很多德州人常覺(jué)得自己就應(yīng)該是一個(gè)國(guó)家

There's famous saying "Don't mess with Texas": 美國(guó)有句話，“不要惹德州人”

Valiant: 彪悍

Cowboy: 牛仔

They have a lot of pride in their history: 他們對(duì)自己州的歷史特別自豪

Texans tend to be very patriotic and have a strong sense of identity: 德州人的自豪感和對(duì)自己州的身份認(rèn)同感都很強(qiáng)

More liberal states see Texans as moronic: 比較自由左派的州可能看不起德州

People from states like California and New York aren't viewed positively by other Americans because they have a high sense of self-importance: 美國(guó)其它州的人覺(jué)得加州、紐約的人自大、矯情

They feel superior and look down on everyone else: 他們老覺(jué)得自己很優(yōu)越，看不起別人

Portland is also referred to as the unemployment capital of America: 波特蘭也被叫做美國(guó)的失業(yè)首都

Treehuggers: 環(huán)保、熱愛(ài)大自然的人

Americans say Oregon is where the young go to retire: 美國(guó)人說(shuō)俄勒岡州是年輕人去退休的地方

Portland is also famous for grunge: 波特蘭也是grunge音樂(lè)的發(fā)源地
