Portmanteau is originally a French word. It means a suitcase with two compartments: portmanteau是一個(gè)法語(yǔ)詞,原意指有兩個(gè)夾層的皮箱

Most of these terms have been newly coined, but some older portmanteaus have been in the English language for a long time, such as neither and brunch: 很多混成詞是這兩年才涌現(xiàn)的,但是也有一些歷史悠久的混成詞,比如:
Neither: not + either
Brunch: breakfast + lunch

Chillax: chill + relax 放松休閑
Chill means to take it easy, to calm down: chill的意思是放輕松
If someone is very tense and stressed or angry, you can say "chill": 如果一個(gè)人很緊張、壓力大、生氣,你可以跟他說(shuō)“chill”
You can use chillax to describe your weekend plans, e.g. I'm gonna chillax this weekend: 你能用chillax來(lái)談?wù)撟约旱闹苣┌才牛热?quot; I'm gonna chillax this weekend"

Frenemy: friend+enemy 既是朋友又是敵人
Smog: smoke + fog 霧霾
Pleather: plastic + leather 人造革
In North America, people who are concerned about the environment and animal rights will wear pleather, and apparel made from this material is often quite expensive: 在北美,很多環(huán)保人士會(huì)買(mǎi)pleather, 人造革制品,這些通常都很貴,可能比真皮還貴
