The sun has sunk behind the hills,

太陽(yáng)，藏到山后了，

The shadows o'er the landscape creep;

影子，蠕動(dòng)在寥廓霜天，

A drowsy sound the woodland fills,

森林里，響起長(zhǎng)短不一的哈欠，

As nature folds her arms to sleep:

大地，隆起臂膀開(kāi)始睡眠，

Good night—good night.

晚安，大家晚安！

The chattering jay has ceased his din,

饒舌的，松雞不再喧嘩，

The noisy robin sings no more;

啁啾的，知更鳥(niǎo)停止歌唱，

The crow, his mountain haunt within,

風(fēng)聲乍起，驚飛一行寒鴉，

Dreams 'mid the forest's surly roar:

安謐的夢(mèng)，在濃密山巒滾下。

Good night—good night.

晚安，大家晚安！

The sunlit cloud floats dim and pale;

夕陽(yáng)云朵，暮色里游動(dòng)昏暗；

The dew is falling soft and still,

露珠輕聲，凝固起靜穆悄然，

The mist hangs trembling o'er the vale,

溪谷升起，霧靄顫栗的網(wǎng)，

And silence broods o'er yonder mill:

徘徊很久，直到磨坊天邊。

Good night—good night.

晚安，大家晚安！

The rose, so ruddy in the light,

大紅玫瑰，落日里抖出亮麗，

Bends on its stem all rayless now;

枝葉匍匐，收盡白晝光華，

And by its side a lily white,

朦朧身邊，白色嬌艷百合，

A sister shadow, seems to bow:

娉婷而立，仿佛謙卑致意，

Good night—good night.

晚安，大家晚安！

The bat may wheel on silent wing,

蝙蝠無(wú)聲無(wú)息，空中盤(pán)旋，

The fox his guilty vigils keep,

狐貍警覺(jué)，等待獵物出現(xiàn)，

The boding owl his dirges sing;

貓頭鷹，撕開(kāi)夜的挽歌，

But love and innocence will sleep:

愛(ài)情，進(jìn)入童話夢(mèng)幻。
