The following year Providence listened to the prayers of the poor, and the harvest was abundant.

第二年，上帝聽到了窮人的禱告，田里莊稼收成豐足。

The peasants who had been saved from starving by Flor Silin now gathered around him.

那些得到菲洛·斯林救助幸免于難的農(nóng)民們，再次聚集到他家門口。

"Behold," said they, the corn you lent us. You saved our wives and children.

“斯林先生，你看看，”他們說，你送給我們糧食，救了我們的妻小。

We should have been famished but for you; may God reward you;

若不是你的仁愛之心，我們?cè)缫殉蔀槁愤咅I殍；但愿上帝報(bào)答你，

he only can; all we have to give is our corn and grateful thanks.

"I want no corn at present, my good neighbors," said he;

my harvest has exceeded all my expectations; for the rest, thank heaven: I have been but an humble instrument.

我的收成超過了最好期待，至于我所做的，感謝天上圣父，我不過是個(gè)卑微的踐行者。

They urged him in vain. "No," said he, I shall not accept your corn.

他們反復(fù)勸說菲洛，終究還是徒勞。“鄉(xiāng)親們，別這樣，”菲洛說，我不會(huì)接受你們的糧食。

If you have superfluities, share them among your poor neighbors, who, being unable to sow their fields last autumn, are still in want;

如果你們手中糧食富余，不如將糧食送給更為貧苦的鄉(xiāng)鄰。去年秋天，不少人無法播種，

let us assist them, my dear friends; the Almighty will bless us for it.

他們眼下仍需要糧食，我們?yōu)楹尾幌蛩麄兩斐鼍仍郑颗笥褌?，天主為此佑福我們?/p>

"Yes," replied the grateful peasants, our poor neighbors shall have this corn.

“好吧。”心懷感激的村民們異口同聲地說。那些窮人需要幫助，

They shall know it is to you that they owe this timely succor, and join to teach their children the debt of gratitude due to your benevolent heart.

那些窮人需要幫助，他們肯定亦會(huì)知道，拯救之道在于眾人援手，由于你們的仁愛之心，他們將教育后代學(xué)會(huì)如何感恩。

Silin raised his tearful eyes to heaven. An angel might have envied him his feelings.

菲洛說著，仰望天空，眼眶淚水充盈，或許，快樂的天使正欣羨地注視著他。
