老師安排好各年級(jí)的座位，在講臺(tái)后面的椅子上剛一落座，

a small white-headed boy with a sunburnt face appeared at the door,

只見一位臉上曬得黝黑，長(zhǎng)著一頭淡黃色頭發(fā)的小男孩閃身出現(xiàn)在門口。

and, stopping there to make a rustic bow, came in and took his seat upon one of the forms.

他停下腳步，土里土氣地鞠了一躬后走進(jìn)來，找到自己年級(jí)的座位坐了下來。

He then put an open book, astonishingly dog's-eared, upon his knees,

他拿出一本沒有封皮的書放在膝蓋上，

and, thrusting his hands into his pockets, began counting the marbles with which they were filled;

Soon afterward, another white-headed little boy came straggling in,

and after him, a red-headed lad, and then one with a flaxen poll,

until the forms were occupied by a dozen boys, or thereabouts, with heads of every color but gray,
