1. 先行詞指時間并在從句中作時間狀語時，用when引導(dǎo)從句。when=in/at/on which。
We'll never forget the day when/on which we attend the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games.
我們永遠也忘不了參加奧運會開幕式的那一天。
I still remember the day five weeks ago when we fought each other.
我仍然記得五周前我們打架的那一天。
2. 當先行詞是表示時間的名詞，但在從句中作動詞remember, spend, take, forget等動詞的賓語時，用that或which引導(dǎo)從句。
My birthday is a day that I'll never forget.
我的生日是我永遠也不會忘記的日子。
3. 先行詞指地點并在從句中作地點狀語時，用where引導(dǎo)從句。where=in/at/on which。
We all want to visit the place where/in which Shanghai Expo was held.
我們都想去參觀上海舉辦世博會的地方。
This is the hotel where/in which we stayed last night.
這就是我們昨天夜里住過的那家賓館。
4. 當先行詞是表示地點的名詞，但在從句中作動詞visit, forget, remember, build等動詞的賓語時，用that或which而不用where。
This is the house where he was born.
這就是他出生的那座房子。
This is the house that he built last year.
這就是他去年建的房子。
5. 當先行詞是case, situation, circumstance等名詞，表示從句主語處于某種狀況、境地或階段時，用where引導(dǎo)從句。
It's helpful to put children in a situation where they can see themselves differently.
把孩子們放在他們能不同地看到自己的環(huán)境中很有幫助。
I can think of many cases where students obviously knew a lot of English words and expressions but couldn't write a good essay.
我能想出很多情況，在此情況下學(xué)生們很明顯懂得很多英語詞匯和短語，卻不能寫出一篇好文章。
