1.“It is/was the first/second/last time ( that ) +主語 + have/has/had done sth．”表示“這／那是某人第一次（第二次，最后一次）做某事”。需要注意的是，( that)從句需要用完成時態(tài)。例如：It's the first time I have rang a radio programme.（這是我第一次給收音機節(jié)目打電話。）It was the first time that he had lost a game.（那是他第一次輸了比賽。）
2.“bring it back for an exchange”表示“拿回來換貨”，而“bring it back for a refund”則表示“拿回來退貨／退款”。
3.“You've already been most helpful.”表示“你已經幫了我很大的忙了”，其中“most helpful"相當于“very helpful”。
商場失竊
在歐洲，哪個國家的人最喜歡從商店里偷東西？答案是英國人。連續(xù)7年，英國都是歐洲商品失竊程度最高的國家。英國小偷們最愛偷的商品是酒、刀片、配件和肉類。根據《全球零售業(yè)失竊統(tǒng)計報告》，英國商店里每年都有價值超過15億英鎊的商品被顧客偷走。不過，從全球范圍來看，美國人最愛順手牽羊。美國零售業(yè)每年的商品損失高達200億英鎊，其中，員工自盜的商品價值超過了顧客盜竊的價值。
全球顧客盜走210億英鎊
英國的零售業(yè)研究中心和美國保點系統(tǒng)公司每年都會發(fā)布一份《全球零售業(yè)失竊統(tǒng)計報告》。該報告每年都對遍布全球32個國家和地區(qū)的800多家零售巨頭進行統(tǒng)計。這800多家零售巨頭每年的總銷售額達到4470t2英鎊。
根據報告顯示，由于失竊而導致的全球零售業(yè)年損失達498億英鎊。其中，由于顧客盜竊導致的損失是210億英鎊，員工盜竊導致的損失是175億英鎊，供應商盜竊和欺詐達31億英鎊，由于會計和管理錯誤導致的損失達82億英鎊。
圣誕節(jié)前后小偷最多
每逢圣誕節(jié)前的銷售季來臨之際，歐美的零售業(yè)就要打起十二分精神，防止“損耗”（“損耗”是零售業(yè)對失竊的通稱）的發(fā)生。這是因為零售業(yè)的商品“損耗”集中發(fā)生在一年一度的圣誕鐺售季。在英國，多數商品都是在圣誕節(jié)前的四周內被偷走的。在這四周內，平均每天有價值2640萬英鎊的商品從商店消失。
