call on拜訪。指無目的、禮節(jié)性的短暫拜訪。與“拜訪”意思相關的還有see,visit,drop in。
see:常用詞,含義廣泛,既可指接受他人來訪,又可指去訪問他人。
visit:正式用詞,強調出于工作需要的訪問,也指親戚朋友間的看望。
drop in:多指在計劃之外或事先未打招呼的偶然、順便訪問。也可指參觀。

today與tomorrow:
表示“今天”“明天”,有兩層意思:一是指狹義的今天、明天(相對昨天而言),二是廣義地指現(xiàn)在、未來(相對過去而言);表示前者的意思通常用-'s構成所有格,表示后者的意思,通常用of構成所有格。例如:
Have you read today's paper?
你讀過今天的報紙了嗎?
The news will be in tomorrow's newspaper.
明天的報紙將刊載這條消息。
Young people of today have no manners.
如今的青年人不講禮貌。
The world of tomorrow will be very different.
未來的世界將大不相同。
由于today和tomorrow可同時作名詞或副詞,所以用of構成所有格時,有時可省略of而直接用副詞后置定語。如:women today(當今的婦女),the changes tomorrow(未來的變化)等。
另外,在現(xiàn)代英語中用于廣義表示“現(xiàn)在”“未來”時,有時也可用-'s構成所有格,但不如用of普通。例如:
Today's youth will be the leaders of tomorrow.
現(xiàn)在的年輕人將成為未來的領導者。
