英國發(fā)現(xiàn)了一只雌雄同體的貓咪

A cats charity is raising money for one of itsfelines to have gender reassignment surgery, aftervets realised that it was both male and female.

有一家英國貓咪慈善機構(gòu)正在籌款，目的是為一只喵星人做性別手術(shù)，因為他們發(fā)現(xiàn)這只喵星人既是雌性又是雄性的。

The unusual feline, named Angel by volunteersat Friends of the Cats' Accrington branch, isahermaphrodite.

這只不同尋常的貓咪雌雄同體，貓咪之友阿克林頓分部的志愿者給它起了名字：安格爾。

Andy Richards, founder of the charity, which fosters stray and feral cats until new homescan be found, said he has never seen anything like it.

Angel, thought to be around three years old, came to the charity when a friend of Andy'scalled him to say that a cat had walked into the One Stop Shop on Blackburn Road and refusedto leave.

Andy, 54, explained: 'Customers kept putting her out but every time the automatic doorsopened Angel came back in and sat down.'

When Andy went to pick the cat up, he was confused that he was unable to establish itsgender.

He said: 'I thought I was just being stupid. On taking Angel for a vet check, the vetinformed me, after a long examination, that Angel is both male and female.'

Hermaphroditism is caused by a genetic mutation and happens when insufficienttestosterone means a foetus' testes do not develop properly, and it grows ovaries.

雌雄同體多由基因突變引起，因睪丸素不足引發(fā)。當睪丸素不足的時候，貓咪胚胎的睪丸就不能正常發(fā)育，進而長出卵巢。

Little white and tabby Angel now has to undergo treatment to assign a gender, ashermaphrodite cats can have health problems. The operation will cost around ￡1,000, whichFriends of the Cats will have to raise.

白色帶有斑紋的小安格爾，不得不接受手術(shù)來確認性別，因為雌雄同體的貓咪可能會出現(xiàn)健康問題。手術(shù)需要大概1000英鎊，手術(shù)費將由貓咪之友籌集。
