雙語(yǔ)詩(shī)歌翻譯|曾子-《大學(xué)·六》

《大學(xué)》是一篇論述儒家修身治國(guó)平天下思想的散文，原是《小戴禮記》第四十二篇，相傳為曾子所作，實(shí)為秦漢時(shí)儒家作品，是一部中國(guó)古代討論教育理論的重要著作。經(jīng)北宋程顥、程頤竭力尊崇，南宋朱熹又作《大學(xué)章句》，最終和《中庸》、《論語(yǔ)》、《孟子》并稱“四書"。宋、元以后，《大學(xué)》成為學(xué)校官定的教科書和科舉考試的必讀書，對(duì)中國(guó)古代教育產(chǎn)生了極大的影響。

《大學(xué)·六》 曾子

所謂誠(chéng)其意者，毋自欺也。如惡惡臭，如好好色，此之謂自謙。故君子必慎其獨(dú)也。小人閑居為不善，無(wú)所不至，見君子而后厭然，掩其不善，而著其善。人之視己，如見其肝肺然，則何益矣？此謂誠(chéng)于中，形于外。故君子必慎其獨(dú)也。曾子曰：“十目所視，十手所指，其嚴(yán)乎！”富潤(rùn)屋，德潤(rùn)身，心廣體胖，故君子必誠(chéng)其意。

What is meant by "making the thoughts sincere," is the allowing no self-deception, as as when we hate a bad smell, and as when we love what is beautiful. This is called self-enjoyment. Therefore, the superior man must be watchful over himself when he is alone. There is no evil to which the mean man, dwelling retired, will not proceed, but when he sees a superior man, he instantly tries to disguise himself, concealing his evil, and displaying what is good. The other beholds him, as if he saw his heart and veins; –of what use is his disguise? This is an instance of the saying –"What truly is within will be manifested without." Therefore, the superior man must be watchful over himself when he is alone. The disciple Zeng said, "What ten eyes behold, what ten hands point to, is to be regarded with reverence!" Riches adorn a house, and virtue adorns the person. The mind is expanded, and the body is at ease. Therefore, the superior man must make his thoughts sincere.
