《中夜起望西園值月上》是唐代文學(xué)家柳宗元創(chuàng)作于貶謫永州期間的一首詩。全詩八句四十字，構(gòu)思新巧，詩人抓住在靜夜中聽到的各種細微的聲響，來進行描寫，以有聲寫無聲，表現(xiàn)詩人所處環(huán)境的空曠寂寞，從而襯托他謫居中郁悒的情懷，即事成詠，隨景寓情。從表面看來，似有自得之趣，而終難如陶、韋之超脫。

覺聞繁露墜，開戶臨西園。
寒月上東嶺，泠泠疏竹根。
石泉遠逾響，山鳥時一喧。
倚楹遂至旦，寂寞將何言。

I woke and heard drippings of bounteous dew,
And opened the window overlooking the west garden.
Cold moon rose over the east ridge;
Tinkling drips at the sparse bamboo shoots.
Rocky springs sounded louder from afar;
Mountain birds broke into a casual row.
I leaned against the post all the way till dawn;
Loneliness was much too for words.
