斯賓塞（Edmund Spenser，1552-1599），英國(guó)文藝復(fù)興時(shí)期重要詩(shī)人。早期詩(shī)歌作品有《牧人月歷》，最重要的詩(shī)作《仙女王》帶有中世紀(jì)的道德諷喻色彩、神秘主義和宗教情緒，同時(shí)又充滿文藝復(fù)興時(shí)期人文主義者對(duì)生活的熱愛，對(duì)理想的追求，對(duì)后世詩(shī)歌產(chǎn)生深遠(yuǎn)影響。《愛情小詩(shī)》于1595年出版，由88首十四行詩(shī)組成，是寫給他的未婚妻的。它們沿襲了彼特拉克十四行詩(shī)的模式，贊美理想的愛情，歌頌精神與肉體的結(jié)合，具有濃郁的人文主義色彩。在韻式上采用交環(huán)韻，即abab bcbc cdcd ee，較莎士比亞式要求更嚴(yán)。

正像一只船，橫劈大海的波濤，

Lyke as a ship that through the Ocean wyde,

靠一顆星辰的指示，向前疾進(jìn)，

By conduct of some star doth make her way,

一旦風(fēng)暴遮沒了可靠的引導(dǎo)，

Whenas a storme hath dimd her trusty guyde,

船就會(huì)誤入迷途，遠(yuǎn)離航程；

Out of her course doth Wander far astray:

我也有用光芒引導(dǎo)著我的星辰，

So I whose star, that wont with her bright ray

可惜她現(xiàn)在已經(jīng)被烏云蒙上，

Me to direct, with cloudes is overcast,

我就只得在黑暗和恐懼中獨(dú)行，

Doe wander now in darknesse and dismay,

在危機(jī)四伏的環(huán)境里躑躅彷徨；

Through hidden perils round about me plast.

但是，風(fēng)暴總得過(guò)去，我希望

Yet hope I well, that when this storme is past

我的赫利刻——我的生命的導(dǎo)星

My Helice the lodestar of my lyfe

會(huì)重新亮起來(lái)，用那可愛的光芒

Will shine again, and looke on me at last,

掃清我的愁云，再向我垂青；

With lovely light to cleare my cloudy grief .

否則，我就徘徊著，十分不安，

Till then I wander carefull comfortlesse,
