A: Lois, what was your first job?
 
洛伊斯，你第一份工作是什么？
 
B: The first job I had was a sales assistant in a shoe shop.
 
我的第一份工作是在一家鞋店做銷售助理。
 
A: Oh, shoes.
 
哦，鞋。
 
B: Shoe shop, yeah! When I was fifteen, I got my first job and I used to work every Saturday for maybe 8 hours a day and I used to earn, 1 pound 77 pence per hour.
 
鞋店，對(duì)！那時(shí)我15歲，我得到了第一份工作，我每周六工作八個(gè)小時(shí)，當(dāng)時(shí)的工資是每小時(shí)1.77英鎊。
 
A: It doesn't sound like very much.
 
聽上去掙得不多。
 
B: No, so in England now, the minimum I think is maybe 5 pounds.
 
的確是，現(xiàn)在英格蘭的最低工資大概是每小時(shí)5英鎊。
 
A: Oh, wow!
 
哦，哇！
 
B: So by the time I'd got the bus to Bournemouth,the town, and bought my breakfast at Mcdonald's, and then gone out for lunch and then got the bus home, I had no money left, but at the time cause I got paid at the end of the month, I always thought I had money, because suddenly all this money would appear in my bank account, but then I would have already spent it all, within the day of work.
 
那時(shí)我要坐公交去伯恩茅斯鎮(zhèn)，在麥當(dāng)勞買早餐吃，中午去餐廳吃飯，然后下班坐公交車回家，我?guī)缀醮娌幌率裁村X，不過(guò)因?yàn)槲沂窃谠履┠霉べY，我總覺得我有錢，原因是這些錢會(huì)突然出現(xiàn)在我的銀行帳戶上，可是之后我就會(huì)在上班的期間把它們都花完。
 
A: Wow. So how long did you last at this job?
 
哇。你這份工作做了多長(zhǎng)時(shí)間？
 
B: I worked all together I think in three different shoe shops, so the first one I worked in for a year and then that one closed down, so then they moved me to another one, the same company, and then from that one I moved to another one , but then I had to leave my job when I had to do my exams at school cause I needed to study.
 
我想我一共在三家鞋店做過(guò)，第一家店我干了大概一年，后來(lái)那家鞋店倒閉了，于是他們把我調(diào)去了同一個(gè)公司的另一家店，然后我又去了第三家店，不過(guò)后來(lái)我不得不辭職，因?yàn)槲乙獪?zhǔn)備學(xué)校的考試，我要學(xué)習(xí)。
