上文我們講到了修飾人物的從句,其關(guān)系代詞分別是who, whom, whose和that,這一節(jié)我們介紹一下修飾事物的從句,其關(guān)系代詞分別是which, that, whose和of which。
①The book which (that ) I read was interesting.
②I like the book which (that) is very interesting.
③I want to have a book whose cover is colorful.
④I want to have a book of which the cover is colorful.
由于the book 后面的從句都是定語從句,是用來修飾the book 的,所以可以刪去。刪去從句以后,以上的句子就變成了:
①The book was interesting.
②I like the book.
③I want to have a book.
④I want to have a book.
第3句和第4句在意思上是一樣的。whose可以轉(zhuǎn)換成“of+which”。
現(xiàn)在讓我們做一下練習(xí)吧!
1.The city is a place that many tourists love.
2.The little boy likes the toy of which the color is red.
3.He lost his pen whose color is blue.
4.He doesn't dare to touch the teapot that is too hot.
5.He gave me a gift which I liked very much and I gave him one in return.
超強(qiáng)實(shí)踐
When a classy young colt runs poorly, there always has to be a reason and connections of Estidhkaar have identified one in the wake of his Dewhurst flop almost a fortnight ago.The two-year-old has been diagnosed with a leg fracture and those close to him have intimated that he may have been feeling the injury even before the race.
“Estidhkaar has a small hairline fracture of his hock,”Angus Gold, who speaks for the colt's owner, has said today through the website of the trainer Richard Hannon.“We felt something had to be wrong in the Dewhurst, because Paul Hanagan had rung me after he had worked the Sunday before and said how well the horse had gone.”
“However, he did not move well going to post at Newmarket and then didn't travel well in the race, which is not like him, so we suspected that all was not right, especially as he hadn't been keen on leaving the stalls.Estidhkaar will have between four to six weeks' box rest before going on the walker, but it is nothing major and he will be back next season.”
I'll know my fate good and early today, as my main interest is in the sprint handicaps that open Nottingham's penultimate card of the year.
