在第七講中,您可以學(xué)習(xí)到如何詢問(wèn)是否有問(wèn)題以及在出現(xiàn)錯(cuò)誤后如何道歉。您還記得嗎,我們?cè)谶@一課之前聽(tīng)到的對(duì)話情景是客人蒙納和杰克正在一家名叫金蓮花的餐館中就餐,酒店的接待員利奧向他們兩個(gè)人推薦的這家餐館。如果我沒(méi)有記錯(cuò)的話,杰克點(diǎn)了脆皮魚(yú)配美味姜汁,蒙納則點(diǎn)了蒜味雞,但是她要求菜里面不要放辣椒。現(xiàn)在就讓我們一起來(lái)聽(tīng)聽(tīng)餐館的服務(wù)員琴給這兩位客人端上了什么樣的菜肴吧。
Jean: Your Crispy Fish, and…… your Garlic Chicken and vegetables.
Mona: Oh dear.
Jean: Is there a problem?
Mona: There seems to be some mistake. I asked for no chillies. Thischicken has chillies.
Jean: Oh, yes. I see. I’m sorry. I’ll get you another one straight away.

Mona: Oh dear.

Jean: Is there a problem?
蒙納: 好像有些不對(duì)。我點(diǎn)菜的時(shí)候要求不要放辣椒,但是這份蒜味雞里有辣椒呀。
Mona: There seems to be some mistake. I asked for no chillies. This
chicken has chillies.
琴: 噢,是這樣。非常抱歉。我立即就給您重新上一份同樣的菜。
Mona: No worries.
琴: 您還要喝點(diǎn)什么嗎?
Jean: Would you like anything else to drink?
蒙納: 不用了。謝謝。
Mona: No, thanks.
杰克: 我也不用了。謝謝。
Jack: I’m right, thank you.
請(qǐng)注意,在英語(yǔ)的習(xí)慣中,為某一個(gè)錯(cuò)誤表示道歉并不意味著你已經(jīng)承認(rèn)了自己有錯(cuò)。它只是讓客人感到你已經(jīng)注意到了客人的不愉快。一般來(lái)說(shuō),以英語(yǔ)為母語(yǔ)的客人在出現(xiàn)類似情況時(shí)通常會(huì)認(rèn)為服務(wù)人員應(yīng)該如此這般地表示歉意??梢岳斫獾氖钱?dāng)錯(cuò)誤不是由你而引發(fā)的時(shí)候,我們通常會(huì)覺(jué)得不大愿意向客人說(shuō)道歉的話。那么你不妨這樣想一想,當(dāng)你向客人說(shuō)一聲對(duì)不起的時(shí)候,你是在代表你的雇主向客人表示歉意呢。另外請(qǐng)不要忘記,當(dāng)你向客人道歉的時(shí)候一定要看著客人的眼睛,讓客人感受到你的誠(chéng)意。好,現(xiàn)在讓我們來(lái)聽(tīng)一聽(tīng)當(dāng)蒙納指出她的菜里面被錯(cuò)放了辣椒之后,琴是如何回應(yīng)的。
琴: 噢,是這樣。非常抱歉。

在同樣的情況下,她還可以這樣說(shuō): Is everything OK? 請(qǐng)問(wèn)有什么問(wèn)題嗎? 或者也可以這樣說(shuō): Is everything alright? 這兩句英語(yǔ)表達(dá)的是同樣的意思。請(qǐng)注意聽(tīng)并跟著重復(fù)。

接下來(lái)請(qǐng)注意聽(tīng)琴是如何向蒙納表示她可以立刻改正這個(gè)錯(cuò)誤,解決客人提出的問(wèn)題。

Straight away 在這里表示的意思是“立刻,現(xiàn)在”, 還記得嗎,在第二節(jié)的對(duì)話中,當(dāng)蒙納要求為她的房間提供一個(gè)熨斗時(shí),利奧是這樣說(shuō)的:
