他一言不發(fā)地轉(zhuǎn)過身去，大步流星地離開了我。
I walked into the gym, lightheaded and wobbly. Idrifted to the locker room, changing in a trancelikestate, only vaguely aware that there were otherpeople surrounding me. Reality didn't fully set in untilI was handed a racket. It wasn't heavy, yet it felt very unsafe in my hand. I could see a few ofthe other kids in class eyeing me furtively. Coach Clapp ordered us to pair up into teams.
我頭暈眼花，腳步不穩(wěn)地走進(jìn)體育館。我游魂似的走進(jìn)更衣室，在神思恍惚中換了衣服，只能模糊地意識到我周圍還有別的人。直到我拿起球拍，真實(shí)感才完全回到了我的神智中。球拍不算很沉，但在我手里顯得很不安全。我能看到班里的一些別的孩子在偷偷地瞄著我。克拉普教練讓我們自己組隊。
Mercifully, some vestiges of Mike's chivalry still survived; he came to stand beside me.
所幸邁克身上殘余的騎士精神還在，他走過來站到了我旁邊。
"Do you want to be a team?"
“你愿意和我一隊嗎?”
"Thanks, Mike — you don't have to do this, you know." I grimaced apologetically.
“謝謝，邁克——你真的不必這樣做的，你知道。”我充滿歉意地做了個鬼臉。
"Don't worry, I'll keep out of your way." He grinned. Sometimes it was so easy to like Mike.
“別擔(dān)心，我會離你遠(yuǎn)遠(yuǎn)的。”他咧嘴一笑。有時候喜歡上邁克是件很容易的事。
It didn't go smoothly. I somehow managed to hit myself in the head with my racket and clipMike's shoulder on the same swing. I spent the rest of the hour in the back corner of thecourt, the racket held safely behind my back. Despite being handicapped by me, Mike was prettygood; he won three games out of four singlehandedly. He gave me an unearned high five whenthe coach finally blew the whistle ending class.
情況沒那么順利。我在原因不明的情況下成功地?fù)糁辛俗约旱念^部，而且在同一次揮拍打中了邁克的肩膀。這個小時剩下的時間里，我始終待在庭院的后角里，球拍被安全地握在了我的背后。盡管由于我的存在而有些吃虧，但邁克還是干得很漂亮：他獨(dú)力贏得了四場比賽里的三場。當(dāng)克拉普教練最終吹響了哨子，宣布下課時，他讓我不勞而獲地拿到了五分的高分。
"So," he said as we walked off the court.

"So what?"
“那么什么?”
"You and Cullen, huh?" he asked, his tone rebellious. My previous feeling of affectiondisappeared.

"That's none of your business, Mike," I warned, internally cursing Jessica straight to the fierypits of Hades.
