　　The salvage operation had been a complete failure. The small ship, Elkor, which had been searching the Barents Sea for weeks, was on its way home. A radio message from the mainland had been received by the ship's captain conducting him to give up the search.

　　打撈工作徹底失敗了。

　　語言點:a complete failure的意思是“徹底的失敗”。

　　2.The small ship, Elkor, which had been searching the Barents Sea for weeks, was on its way home.

　　小船“埃爾科”號在巴倫支海搜尋了幾個星期之后，正在返航途中。

　　語言點:句子結(jié)構(gòu)分析:Elkor是ship的同位語，起解釋說明ship的作用。Which引導非限制性定語從句，修飾ship。

　　3.A radio message from the mainland had been received by the ship's captain conducting him to give up the search.

　　返航前，該船船長收到了大陸發(fā)來的電報，指示他們放棄這次搜尋。
