56. Returning Library Books 還書(shū)

Meimei likes reading books. She often goes and borrows books from the school library. Though she likes reading, she doesn't take care of her books. She throws them everywhere on the table on the ground; even under her bed. Her roommates often remind her of this, but she turns a deaf ear to them.

梅梅喜歡讀書(shū)，她經(jīng)常去校圖書(shū)館借書(shū)。盡管她喜歡讀書(shū)，但是她并不愛(ài)護(hù)書(shū)。她把書(shū)仍得到處都是，桌子上、地上,甚至床底下。同屋同學(xué)提醒她多次，她卻置之不理

Not until yesterday did her bad habit bring her great trouble. It was the deadline for two books. She looked everywhere but failed to find them. When her roommates came back and learned that, they began to help her look for the books in the room.

直到昨天她的壞習(xí)慣終于給她惹了大麻煩。有兩本書(shū)昨天到期，可是她哪兒都找不到。同屋同學(xué)回來(lái)后，也幫助她一起找。

Twenty minutes passed without any result. Meimei cried helplessly. It was 4:30 and Meimei had to go to the library, for it closes at 5. As soon as she told the story to the librarian and asked for an extra day with tears, the librarian looked at her with surprise and said, "What a careless girl! You returned them, yesterday! Don't you remember?" 20分鐘過(guò)去了仍無(wú)結(jié)果。梅梅無(wú)助地哭著。已經(jīng)是下午4點(diǎn)半了，梅梅必須去圖書(shū)館，因?yàn)閳D書(shū)館5點(diǎn)關(guān)門(mén)。當(dāng)她含著眼淚向圖書(shū)館員說(shuō)明情況，并請(qǐng)求寬限一天時(shí)，圖書(shū)館員驚訝地看著她說(shuō)：“真是個(gè)粗心的姑娘，書(shū)已經(jīng)還了，就是昨天!記得嗎?”
