老板是個(gè)狠角色。

a hard nut to crack 直譯過(guò)來(lái)就是：“一個(gè)很難敲碎的堅(jiān)果”，名詞nut除指“堅(jiān)果”外，還可指“難題，難事”。這個(gè)短語(yǔ)的正確意思是：“棘手的問(wèn)題，難對(duì)付的人，狠角色”。因此，當(dāng)美國(guó)人說(shuō)"The boss is a hard nut to crack."時(shí)，他/她要表達(dá)的意思就是:"The boss is hard to deal with."、"The boss is a difficult person."。
