Having carefully planned my itinerary, I found myself in Shangri-La, a jewel on the map of the world. The most delicious crops are grown all the year round, as water is abundant and farmers are able to irrigate all the crops they wish to grow.Housewives use earthenware jars to carry water from canals to their homes, as they have one since time immemorial. Most of the fruit that is not eaten when it is ripe is made into delicious jelly

我認(rèn)真地計(jì)劃了我的路線，發(fā)現(xiàn)自己來(lái)到了香格里拉——世界地圖上的一顆寶石。味道最好的莊稼一年四季都能生長(zhǎng)，因?yàn)檫@里水源豐富，農(nóng)民可以灌溉所有希望栽種的莊稼。家庭婦女用陶罐把水從運(yùn)河運(yùn)回家，就像從遠(yuǎn)古時(shí)代以來(lái)一直做的那樣。大多數(shù)成熟而未及食用的水果被做成美味的果凍。

A truly beautiful place! And yet, after a few days’ stay, I found some things that were irritating.

這是一個(gè)真正美麗的地方!但是，呆了幾天以后，我發(fā)現(xiàn)一些氣人的事情。

One of the major problems concerned the many itinerant men from places like Afghanistan, many of them jewellers, selling fake jewelry at inflated prices. This caused a degree of jealousy among the local population, many of whom were clearly becoming quite irritable.

一個(gè)主要的問(wèn)題與那些來(lái)自阿富汗等地的巡游人員有關(guān)，他們當(dāng)中很多人是寶石商，以人為太高的價(jià)格出售假珍寶。這在當(dāng)?shù)厝酥幸鹆艘欢ǔ潭鹊募刀是榫w，很多人顯然變得非常易怒。

They would jeer whenever they saw one of those alien visitors in their clapped-out cars that would jerk to a halt in the market place and issue copious amounts of soot and smoke in the process.

那些外來(lái)的觀光客乘著陳舊的老爺車來(lái)到市場(chǎng)內(nèi)猛然剎停，這期間排放了大量的煙塵廢氣。當(dāng)?shù)厝酥灰c之一照面，就會(huì)加以冷嘲熱諷，一個(gè)也不會(huì)放過(guò)。

This kind of ethnic rivalry is clearly a serious issue that is placing economic growth and development in jeopardy.

這種種族的敵對(duì)狀態(tài)顯然是一個(gè)嚴(yán)肅的問(wèn)題，使經(jīng)濟(jì)的增長(zhǎng)與發(fā)展處于危險(xiǎn)的境地。

If only it were possible to isolate the precise cause of what irritates the locals so much and jars on their psyche! If only one child issue some kind of sensible decree mandating harmony and understanding and pull this senseless jealousy out with one big jerk!

但愿能夠離析出使當(dāng)?shù)厝巳绱藧琅托撵`不愉快的真正原因!但愿一個(gè)人能頒布某種敦促和諧與理解的明智的法令，把這種無(wú)聊的嫉妒根子猛地一下連根拔出。
