Financial Secretary, Chairman of the Hong Kong Trade Development Council, my lords, ladies and gentlemen, I am delighted to be with you this evening and to have the opportunity to say a few words about the UK's trade relationship with Hong Kong.

財(cái)政司司長(zhǎng)，香港貿(mào)易發(fā)展理事會(huì)會(huì)長(zhǎng)，閣下，女士們，先生們，我很高興今晚有機(jī)會(huì)講幾句英國(guó)和香港的貿(mào)易關(guān)系。

The Hong Kong Trade Development Council's Annual Dinner is not only a very enjoyable occasion and one of the major events in the UK s business calendar, but it is also a celebration of the ongoing trade relationship between the UK and Hong Kong.

香港貿(mào)易發(fā)展理事會(huì)的年度晚宴不僅僅是喜悅的日子和英國(guó)商界日程的重要事件，還是英國(guó)和香港持續(xù)關(guān)系的慶祝日子。

As Minister for International Trade and Investment, I am especially pleased to be here tonight. When the Prime Minister appointed me as the Trade Minister it was a first for joined-up government—bringing together at ministerial level the two Departments, the FCO4 and DU which—through British Trade International—support exporters and investors, at home and overseas. The Prime Minister was very clear—he wanted exporters and international investors to have a single voice within government. I am determined to raise that voice whenever I can. It is this agenda—how to make globalization work for all of as that is so challenging in the current round of negotiations in the World Trade Organization.

作為國(guó)際貿(mào)易與投資部長(zhǎng)，我今晚很是高興。首相委任我為貿(mào)易部長(zhǎng)是第一個(gè)政府跨部門的工作---將兩個(gè)部門，F(xiàn)CO和DTI一起提升到部級(jí)水平---通過英國(guó)國(guó)際貿(mào)易署---支持國(guó)內(nèi)和海外的出口商和投資者。首相非常清楚---他希望出口商和國(guó)際投資者在政府內(nèi)有獨(dú)立的聲音，我會(huì)盡我最大努力提高這一聲音。以下為日程---如何在現(xiàn)一輪世界貿(mào)易組織的挑戰(zhàn)中讓全球化為我們工作。

This audience in particular understands that, like all other economies, we face a new and much accelerated global economic challenge. Fueled by knowledge and innovation, the international market place is more rapid and comprehensive than ever before.

這位聽眾尤其理解，像其他經(jīng)濟(jì)一樣，我們面臨著新的更加速的全球經(jīng)濟(jì)挑戰(zhàn)。在知識(shí)和創(chuàng)新的促進(jìn)下，國(guó)際市場(chǎng)比以往任何時(shí)候都更急速綜合。
