Dear editor,
I am writing to inform you of my unhappy experience. On June 5th, I went to buy an Oxford English Dictionary for Advanced Learners at the ABC Foreign Language Bookstore in our city. Unfortunately, when I backed home, I was astonished to find that several pages were stained, some were folded, and a few more were even missing. To settle the problem, I immediately went back to the bookstore and intended to apply for a change.
Surprisingly to my annoyance, the same shop assistant said she could do nothing about it and asked me to go directly to the manager. I made great efforts to meet the manager in person, only to be told it was not their fault. And the manager also advised me to take the dictionary to the publisher for a change! Their answer is unacceptable.
I believe that it is most necessary for the whole tertiary industry to improve the service quality. Only when an amazing and fundamental change in their attitude has taken place, can good service be available in our society. And I hope some articles concerning this theme can be carried in your newspaper.
Best wishes.
Yours faithfully,
Li Ming
