My wife was out of town on business and our nanny was sick, so I took the day off from work to take care of our two kids: Livia, who is two, and Augustus, who is three and a half. I thought that going to the playground would be a good thing to do, but it turned out to be an accident waiting to happen.

我妻子去鎮(zhèn)外出差了，我們的保姆生病了，所以我得請(qǐng)一天假來(lái)照顧我的2個(gè)孩子：2歲的Livia和3歲半的Augustus。我愿以為帶他們?nèi)ミ\(yùn)動(dòng)場(chǎng)是件好事，但結(jié)果險(xiǎn)些發(fā)生事故。

When we got to the playground, the kids jumped out of the car. Livia got onto the merry-go-round, pushing it as hard as she could. The trouble was, there were a couple of toddlersplaying on it and they fell backwards, getting the wind knocked out of them.

當(dāng)我們來(lái)到運(yùn)動(dòng)場(chǎng)時(shí)，孩子們從車(chē)?yán)锾顺鋈ァivia跑向旋轉(zhuǎn)木馬，使用全身力氣去推木馬。問(wèn)題是：有2個(gè)剛學(xué)會(huì)走路的孩子在木馬上玩，他們向后傾倒，受到了驚嚇。

Augustus, on the other hand, ran straight for the swing set and almost got decapitated! Then he went over to the see-saw and almost got smashed when he tried to run under it! He ran out of my grasp and onto the jungle gym. He started hanging off the monkey bars. I caught him just in time as he fell!

另一方面Augustus直接跑向秋千架子，差點(diǎn)丟了小命。然后他又跑到蹺蹺板，當(dāng)他在蹺蹺板下跑時(shí)差點(diǎn)被砸到。他跑出了我的控制范圍，直接爬上格子爬梯。他開(kāi)始放開(kāi)單杠，當(dāng)他墜落時(shí)我及時(shí)接住了他。

When I turned around, I saw that Livia had got onto the slide and slid head first into thesandbox! Good thing she wasn’t hurt.

轉(zhuǎn)過(guò)身來(lái)，我看到Livia爬上滑梯，頭向前直接滑進(jìn)沙坑，還好她沒(méi)受傷。

By this time, I realized my mistake. Far from a safe place to play, for two lively kids and one father, the playground was a deathtrap!

這時(shí)，我意識(shí)到了自己的錯(cuò)誤，對(duì)2個(gè)活潑的孩子和1個(gè)父親來(lái)說(shuō)，運(yùn)動(dòng)場(chǎng)遠(yuǎn)不是一個(gè)玩耍的安全地方，而是一個(gè)危險(xiǎn)的地方。
