If I were in your shoes, I'd apologize to him.

in one's shoes 字面意思是：“穿某人的鞋子”，由此可以很容易地聯(lián)想到這個(gè)習(xí)語要表達(dá)的是換位思考，體會(huì)對(duì)方的難處和苦衷，不要用皮鞋的心態(tài)來說人字拖的事。所以這個(gè)習(xí)語的正確意思是：“站在某人的立場(chǎng)上考慮”。因此，當(dāng)美國(guó)人說"If I were in your shoes, I'd apologize to him."時(shí)，他/她要表達(dá)的意思就是:"IfI were you, I would say sorry to him."、"If I were in the same situation, I would apologize tohim."。
